Spreading Hope: redONE Hosts Special Iftar for the Homeless at Pusat Gelandangan Transit Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR – In the spirit of compassion and spiritual reflection, redONE has continued its tradition of celebrating Ramadan by hosting a special Iftar event for the homeless community at Pusat Gelandangan Transit Kuala Lumpur.

The programme known as ‘Colours of Ramadan; Rewang Iftar’ aims to provide a meaningful breaking of fast experience for some 200 homeless individuals. Through this unique initiative, more than 25 volunteers came together to prepare a traditional Arabic dish called ‘Nasi Arab’. The cooking process began at 3pm at Warung Makan Sahabat with the volunteers meticulously preparing ingredients for the main dish including chicken and condiments for the soup. The meals were then immediately packed for distribution to the occupants in time for fast-breaking at the communal area of the center, also known as ‘Anjung Kembara’.

The programme underscores redONE Mobile’s dedication to ensuring that the less fortunate receive the care and attention they deserve. In addition to the Iftar meal, redONE also contributed gift bags as a heartfelt gesture to the occupants who were gathered there and added further festive cheer by also giving out ‘duit Raya’. The memorable day culminated with a session of ‘Tazkirah’ for all present there to uplift everyone’s spirits.

Jemay Naim, Head of Marketing, redONE Mobile emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring that the communities in need are given some support while enduring hardship. “As we prepare to break our fast and make preparations for Syawal, let us not forget those in need who could benefit from our assistance. redONE Mobile is dedicated to assisting these communities as, there are so many out there who are less fortunate and are in dire need of urgent assistance just to get by daily. If we do not take the initiative to step forward to offer much the needed aid, who else can they depend on? With our Colours of Ramadan programme, we aim to help alleviate some burdens faced by them and bring joy and happiness even if only for a day.”

Jemay expressed his hope for more corporate organisations and private entities to come forward and contribute towards supporting the underprivileged. He added that initiatives like Colours of Ramadan: ‘Rewang Iftar’ serve as a reminder of the importance of giving back to the community, especially during times of celebration and reflection.

Apart from the Rewang Iftar programme, redONE Mobile will also be organising a ‘buka puasa’, ‘Iftar Ala Madinah’ to be attended by children from an orphanage this month. redONE Mobile also plans to organise several more community outreach programmes this year to contribute to the well-being of the society, including the Empowered 2 Teach project involving indigenious children in collaboration with Persatuan Kebajikan Suara Kanak-kanak Malaysia (SUKA), Bantuan Kasih redONE for Kelas Komuniti Kg Sungai Poh at Gopeng, Perak and a tree planting project with the Forestry Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM). Besides that, redONE Mobile plans to further support the community through its Adopt-A-Family program which will entail various forms of assistance including food, education and health being extended to family members of employees of the company facing hardship or severe poverty.
